Get an extra tube of hair gel ready and fire up that tanning bed. On Saturday, in what promises to be a decidedly nonpartisan evening pleasantly devoid of health care debate, the West Shore Hardware Bar welcomes MTV reality starlet Angelina Pivarnick, the self-proclaimed Kim Kardashian of the Jersey shore.
"Jersey Shore," MTV's ripest reality venture, follows the (night) lives of eight young Italian-American beachgoers as they live and work in Seaside Heights, N.J., for the summer.
Though the show, only one season young, has become a certified cultural phenom, not all the buzz is positive. MTV has drawn heavy criticism from several cultural organizations that have taken issue with the show's inclusion of certain ethnically inconsiderate terminologies.
The general story arc is thus: fueled by an ocean's worth of energy drink/flavored liquor cocktails, the roommates roam the boards in search of potential suitors before engaging in drunken debacles, dramas and scuffles to an omnipresent soundtrack of hypnotic house music. Frankie and Annette's Beach Party it is not.
Pivarnick will be on hand all evening, and to elicit the trademark fist-pumping, floor-slapping dance, Hardware Bar will offer $1 drinks from 8 to 10 p.m.
